Handicaps, Boards & Reviews

What our numbers mean, and what they don't.

Version 1.0 · Last updated 18 October 2026

1.An independent league

The FFGL is an independent amateur league run by Flamin Fairways. It is not affiliated with, approved or endorsed by GolfRSA, the South African Golf Association, The R&A, the USGA, any golf union or any golf club. Their names are used only to describe official handicaps, not to suggest any link.

2.FFGL handicaps are not official

Members without an official handicap get an FFGL handicap, worked out by us for this league only. It is not an official handicap under the World Handicap System and can't be used at clubs, in official competitions or anywhere else.

If you have an official handicap, you enter it yourself and keep it up to date. Any affiliation number you give us is used only to identify your handicap record and is never shown to other members. We don't connect to any golf body's systems.

3.Leaderboards are for fun and bragging rights

Standings are worked out from scores members post themselves. We check for honesty, but we can't guarantee every score is right, and standings may change after a review. There are no prizes.

4.Flame Scores and course reviews

Flame Scores, course flames and reviews are the honest opinions of members who played there. They are not our opinion and not a professional rating. Only members who posted a round at a course can review it.

Course details (par, stroke index, slope and course rating) come from members, checked against each course's own scorecard. Always confirm with the course.

5.For course owners

Think something about your course is wrong or unfair? Email flaminfairways@gmail.com with the subject "Course correction".

  • We reply within 5 business days.
  • Factual errors (par, stroke index, location, contact details) are fixed once confirmed.
  • Reviews that are abusive, untrue or not based on a real visit are removed under the Community Rules.
  • Honest opinions stay, but you can ask us to add a short reply from the course next to the course's Flame Score.

6.Look after yourself

Golf is played at your own risk. We don't give coaching or golf advice, and we're not responsible for anything that happens on the course. Play safe, drink water, mind the cart path.

Every policy, our company details and earlier versions are on the Legal page.
