Rules & integrity
Play it straight.
Important notice
The full Amateur League rules and terms will be published before official entries open.
Integrity first
The FFGL runs on your word. Give it, and keep it.
Everyone who joins gives their word to play it honest. The rules below exist to protect that promise, not to replace it.
Honest score reporting
Every score submitted must be a true record of the round played.
Mulligans: allowed, but claimed
You may take up to 1 mulligan per nine (2 per round). Claim each one when you enter your round. Mulligans don't change your points. They show on your round as an M mark, and claiming honestly is the whole point.
Gallery drop
Pros have spectators and ball watchers. Amateurs don't. If you saw your ball land and your playing partners confirm they saw it too, but you can't find it, take a free drop (no penalty) in the area where you believe it ended up.
This month and the season
Every month everyone starts at 0: your best round that month is your score (or your best two 9s, if that's more). The season runs January to December: your monthly bests averaged with 2 ghost months at your division's average, so joining late never counts against you. Rounds go in within 7 days, can be fixed for 24 hours, and every round counts.
Evidence may be reviewed
Scorecards and supporting evidence may be reviewed at any time.
Unusual changes investigated
Significant or unexplained score changes may trigger an investigation.
Breaches have consequences
Confirmed material breaches may have consequences for a player's results and membership, following the published review process.
Follow the final rules
Players must follow the final eligibility, handicap and score-submission rules.
Made for amateurs
Friendly rules for people with day jobs.
We're not pros and we don't have spectators or marshals. These ideas are still proposals, so the final list may change.
Fairway lift
When the fairway is wet, muddy or chewed up, lift, clean and place your ball within a scorecard length, no nearer the hole. Claim it on your round.
Pick it up when it's gone
Once you can't score a point on a hole, pick up and move on. In Stableford that's net double bogey. Keeps the pace up and the group happy.
Ready golf
Whoever is ready, hits. No standing around waiting for the honour while the sun goes down.
Declare what you used
Mulligan, gallery drop, fairway lift: say so when you post your round. Using them is fine. Hiding them isn't.
