Information marked as needed on a form is required to give you that service. If you don't give it, we can't approve your membership or answer your enquiry. Everything else is optional.

We don't collect special personal information (such as health, religion or race), and we don't use your information for automated decisions about you. Our integrity checks only flag scores for a person to review.

4.Young golfers

The FFGL is for adults. You must be 18 or older to join, and we don't knowingly collect information about anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

5.Who can see what

Always visible to other members, because the league can't run without it: display name, country, division, leaderboard points and position, claimed mulligan marks, the "gave their word" badge.

Only if you switch it on (every switch starts off): your handicap; your round-by-round scores; your home course; your profile picture; your progress charts; your flame credits; showing you on the public website leaderboard.

People who aren't members only see you on the public website leaderboard if you switch that on. Tournament results marked "Public" are visible to members only.

Promoters only see how many people signed up with their code, never who.

Our team: only the league admin can see members' full details, using two-step login.

6.Who we share it with

We share information only with the companies below, which work for us under written terms, may only use it on our instructions, and must keep it secure (POPIA sections 20 and 21):

  • Supabase: Member database and logins (European Union, from member app).
  • Lovable: Builds and hosts the website (Outside South Africa, from now).
  • Google: Our email (Gmail) and the website fonts (Google Fonts) (Outside South Africa, from now).
  • Xneelo: Our domain name (South Africa, from now).
  • Yoco: Card payments (South Africa, from paid launch).
  • Xero: Accounting records (Outside South Africa, from paid launch).

We also give information to our accountant and auditors where needed, and to authorities when the law requires it. We never share it with advertisers.

If Flamin Fairways is ever sold or merged, members' information may move to the new owner, who must keep this policy's promises. We'll tell you first.

7.Sending information outside South Africa

Some of these companies store information outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by laws, binding corporate rules or written agreements giving protection substantially similar to POPIA (POPIA s72(1)(a)), or where the transfer is needed to perform our agreement with you (s72(1)(c)). Our member database is in the European Union, which is covered by the GDPR.

8.Keeping it safe

  • Two-step login on every admin and supplier account.
  • Our database only shows each person what they're allowed to see, enforced on the server, not just in the app.
  • Information is encrypted while it travels and while it's stored by our database provider.
  • Card details never touch our systems. They go straight to our payment provider.
  • Access is limited to the people who need it, and admin actions are logged.

9.If something goes wrong

If we reasonably believe someone has accessed your information without permission, we'll tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible, as POPIA section 22 requires, with what happened and what you can do to protect yourself.

10.Marketing

We only send marketing emails if you've ticked the box to say yes. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us. Saying no never affects your membership. Emails about your membership itself (approval, receipts, renewal reminders, changes to these policies) aren't marketing, so you'll get them either way.

11.Cookies

This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. The member app only uses what it needs to keep you logged in. See the Cookie Policy.

12.Your rights

You can ask us, free of charge, to:

  • confirm whether we hold information about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct or delete information that is wrong, out of date, excessive or no longer needed;
  • stop using it, or object to how we use it;
  • stop sending you marketing.

We'll confirm who you are and reply within 30 days. If we can't do what you ask (for example, because the law says we must keep payment records), we'll explain why. See Your Information & Rights and our PAIA & POPIA Manual.

You can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at any time, though we'd love the chance to put it right first.

13.Changes to this policy

We'll post any update here with a new version number and date. For a material change, we'll email members at least 30 days before it applies.
