How the FFGL Handicap works

One number for points, divisions and the Leaderboard. Built from the rounds you post. Never official.
Proposed. These are the FFGL's own league rules, not an official handicap system. Final wording is confirmed in the published league rules.
  1. 1You start with the number you give usOfficial or your best guess. That's your starting point, and only Flamin Fairways can change it.
  2. 2Every round gets a round numberWe take your score, the course's rating and its slope, and work out how well you played that day.
  3. 3From round 5 it starts movingYour first four rounds just warm it up. At round 5 your rounds count for a quarter of it, and a bit more with every round after that.
  4. 4By round 20 it's all yoursThen it's the average of your best 8 of your last 20 rounds. Every new round pushes the oldest one out.
  5. 5Blow-up holes are capped (Pick it up)For your handicap, a disaster hole counts as net double bogey at worst. Pick it up when it's gone.
  6. 6A hot round cuts it straight awayShoot way better than your handicap and it drops right away, not slowly.
  7. 7It can't shoot up overnight (the rise limit)A run of bad rounds only nudges it up. No tanking.
  8. 8It's unofficialIt's built only from rounds posted to the FFGL. It isn't an official handicap and doesn't replace one.
